This is the 21st century and no nation should be able to take their neighbors territory - Period- which is what Russia has been doing now since 2014.

It wasn't a coup in 2014- Ukrainians clearly did NOT want closer ties to Russia- as I already illustrated- they wanted ties to the west. Your snide attack on Ukraine as a puppet is lost in the reality of their own heroics.

Russia already tanked the concept of not expanding NATO exactly BY invading Ukraine who gave up nukes in exchange for promise of territorial integrity- which Putin promptly. There was also never a promise - implicit or explicit- to not expand NATO

A negotiated settlement would give Putin just what he wants- more territory- you don't accommodate a bully who will then be satisfied- all it will do is encourage the next aggression.
