We are binging through the TV series Newsroom in which the opening episode starts with the Deepwater Horizon oil BP oil spill on April 20, 2010 and in season two moves into the 2012 election cycle of Obama v Romney. Part of the series deals with the threat of a government shutdown over the debt ceiling. It's amazing how relevant the show is even now more than a decade later.
Anyway, in most recent history, shutdowns initiated by the GOP didn't do well FOR the GOP- I guess they have short memories
