Unfortunately Bernie was never on the "precipice of victory." Contrary to what you think, "the party" doesn't despise Bernie Sanders. He is effectively part of the Party which is a wide and large tent. There are progressives like us to, yes, the more centrists. Candidates need to appeal to a wide range of views in the Democratic Party and Sanders appeals, at this point, to about 25-30.

And Yes - had he gotten the nomination he would have been soundly supported by all members!

He is already getting credit- He has effectively moved the needle on health care at least, which is significant!
