The conservative religious right wing which Clarence Thomas panders to has NO interest in "intimate care-giving unions" "minimal marriage" or any other of a myriad of relationship alternative definitions!

Their only focus and goal is the traditional patriarchy "husband as head of the family" marriage and the destruction and outlawing of ANY alternatives to that millenia old paradigm.
