Regarding black women buying guns as fastest growing demographic, the source is likely the Essence Magazine article link below [1] whose source is reports from NYMag’s The Cut [2]

I bought a handgun in 1988 as part of a business & Banking permit to take money to the bank for my business. It was an inexpensive classic saturday night special, a Davis 32 caliber with nickel plating. I actually had to brandish it one night as a guy was going to come into my house after I called the cops on him and two buddies who were trying to break into our cars. I shouted from behind the screen door on the porch that I called 911 and he threatened to "kick my ass." So I chambered a round very visible to him and he backed into the street and left.

Last month I got another handgun, a Walther PPS 9mm. My wife is considering being an escort for Planned Parenthood should women come in from out of state for abortions and I told her she needs to get a Michigan Concealed Pistol License. Anti-choice people are nutjobs and likely violent.

Rightwingers need to know they are not the only people who have guns. Having a gun along with M16 experience in the Marine Corps lends credibility. When I debate a 2A absolutist spouting Patrick Henry shit as I press for reasonable and rational gun regulations, they invariably challenge my knowledge or experience with guns as the bleat typical "The AR15 was never used by the military" crap (it was designed by AJ Stoner FOR military use, regardless of whether they used it or not).

By the way, my Walther PPS is not "high capacity." It is what is termed 'single stack' i.e. the bullets are lined up in a solid row in the magazine and each magazine only holds 6 bullets. My son's Glock (and his girlfriends Lugar) are 'double stack.' The grips are a bit wider to accommodate a wider magazine which holds 15 rounds. Both set ups are standard.

But I agree with you- high capacity magazines, aftermarket ones which expand any gun (hand gun or otherwise) with 30-50 bullets are absurd.

But yes, the conversation doesn't go anywhere because extremists on both sides shout down the reasonable discussion in the middle.
