One of my first PDAs was the Palm VIIx in 2000 which had an antenna and via AT&T service could send and receive email.

But I can't believe you forgot to include Blackberry in that entire article. I had a couple different models in the 2000s and really liked them. But the downside was that because Blackberry was so secure, they kept updating software and any apps I would download would become useless. I often thought Blackberry should have split into two divisions: a highly secure government & business division and a consumer division which was more app friendly.

I finally ditched the Blackberry for a Samsung Note 4 which lasted five years before becoming inoperable at which time I changed to the Note 9 which I currently use.
