Not really a new phenomenon. Internet and social media magnify it but I recall the "men rights" stuff as far back as the last 70s and early 80s.

A friend of mine was heavily influenced by one particular book which I do not recall the author or title. It skewed every relationship he had as he took to over analyzing and manipulation and mind games with anyone he was involved in.

The only thing that really stood out was his assertion that men who couldn't get an erection with a woman was because his subconcious was telling him something. In these instances he told the men to tape a cigar wrapper around their penis. If it was broken in the morning they had had a night time erection and thus were not impotent- only impotent with THAT woman.
