Just WOW!

First, with regards to current slavery conditions in third world nations, that is a foreign policy issue and yes it should be addressed via the United Nations, but is IRRELEVANT to our (USA) discussion of reparations for the USA's participation in that odious institution. Your argument boils down to "if we aren't doing anything about slavery now in some other nation we shouldn't address reparations concepts here now." That is disgusting obfuscation.

Second, discussions of reparations have nothing to do with shaming. And to say few people today are victims of slavery is a bit of a stretch. Slavery and the Jim Crow, redlining, constant destruction of black wealth (Tulsa, etal), indeed have created a current wealth gap.

From the National Bureau of Economic Research: "The wealth gap between White and Black Americans is nearly as large today as it was in the 1950s. The researchers estimate that if Whites and Blacks had had equal opportunities for wealth accumulation over the last century and a half, the wealth gap today would be 3 to 1, rather than twice that."

Your little screed is nothing more than "let's do nothing" nod to ongoing racism.
