It is also no surprise that Gibbs lives in Byron Center (just south of Grand Rapids). Byron Center is an extremely conservative community which essentially caused the death of Jerry Crane- a gay teacher who was harassed out of his job as music teacher there.
And in a kicker- Crane's severance wasn't lump sum. The school was paying it like a paycheck. When Crane died they stopped paying. Part of the severance was that they would pay as long as he was looking for a job. They said he stopped looking.. yeah well because he DIED from the stress. His partner sued and the school was ordered to complete the agreed upon payments
