It has been my experience that a LOT of people opposed to Israel first disparage zionism as 'settler colonialism and then as an ideology. Many do not support a two state solution. They support a one state solution, which of course is ludicrous. When I have asked such people if THEY would like to live under an Islamic government, rather than respond to that question they call me an islamaphobe. My response to that is I don't want to live under ANY theocracy- Muslim or Christian.

And thanks for pointing out that the term "Palestinians" is literally a made-up word to politicize the plight of a group of arabs that got caught up and displaced by the wars started by the neighboring Arab nations.

I have also pushed back on the claim Israel is committing genocide. There seems to be a perverse glee on the part of some on the left when applying the term to jews. It is not genocide because the so-called Palestinians are arabs like those in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon as well as the west bank.

However, I would call some aspects of the conflict ethnic cleansing. This is supported by comments from Netanyahu and his allies to want an Israel 'from the river to the sea." Bibi has openly said he does not want a two state solution. And actions on the ground in the west bank of constant killing of arabs by jews with no accountability and steady influx of jewish "settlers' as well as evicting arabs from their homes are all actions designed to remove arabs from the west bank. The war in Gaza is a more violent extension of it.

I have to disagree with the comment that the arabs were offered a state and refused. The "state" offered was a sort of swiss cheese nation still largely controlled by the IDF with dozens of Israeli villages.[1] Arabs still would not have had free movement. Just traveling between major cities like Ramallah and Nablus would involve several checkpoints.

If Israel really wanted a two state solution, in my opinion, they would grant it to the west bank first, pull out the IDF and tell any 'settlers' in the west bank they could either become citizens of the new state, stay citizens of Israel but live under the new state, or move back to Israel proper. Creating a true palestinian arab state in the west bank would be the best argument to Hamas.

But Bibi has destroyed the possibility of a two state solution for years to come I think.

I just posted large excerpts from the link below. Hamas even brutalizes their own people! [2]
