I think one contributor to "quiet quitting" was the pandemic for several reasons:

1. people on the front line of the retail/service industry got fed up with being treated like crap by both management and customers

2.. people realized they could get by with less and realized they didn't need what was now missing as much as they thought and

3. They realized from the top two that their life was more balanced
