I think bold lipstick looks great on a woman- I am particularly partial to red.
That said, fifty years ago, Desmond Morris had a different theory on the application of lipstick. "the sharply defined red lips around the mouth must be copies of the red labia.”
But in hindsight I don't think much of his views in the book stand up to scrutiny.
