I have to take issue with some of the way you are characterizing the situation. Nobody WANTS a war with Russia. And we are not at war with Russia. It isn't about war with Russia. It's about supporting soveriegnty of nations in the 21st century to not be carved up by a larger more powerful neighbor. (And I get it- we haven't been that consistent about not meddling ourselves for more than one hundred years). But Ukraine gave up the nuclear weapons on their territory in exchange for territorial integrity guarantees. Russia (Putin) infringed on this agreement very quickly. He took over Crimea illegally, then started agitating unrest in eastern Ukraine merely because Ukrainians as a whole preferred closer economic ties to Europe rather than to a corrupt kleptocratic autocracy to their east.

I can't speak to your views. I am a progressive, leftist, Bernie/AOC type voter, but many of the people on this side of the political spectrum seem to want to throw Ukraine under the Russian bus (or tank if you will). The issue of support for Ukraine is one of the odd points where the circle meets with MAGA and progressives, it seems. I had local progressives, in 2016, at least here in Michigan, abandon the Democratic candidate and vote for Jill Stein- who had meetings with Putin. Their logic (at least one part of it) was that HRC was going to get us in a war with Russia.

As to Republicans, their hypocrisy knows no bounds. Many are neo-cons in the spirit of Dick Cheney and would not hesitate to use American might overseas, except in a case where it might make a Democratic president look good. The other Republicans are shallow, MAGA politicians bending to the will of Trump out of demogoguery.

As relates to Trump, his own son said "they get all the money they need from Russia." Trump refused to accept US intelligence on Russian trolling of our election and sided with Putin. Trump associates had numerous contact with Russian agents including Junior who met with on "to get dirt on HRC.' None of this is factually disputable.

Further, Trump's "America First" was not America First by any stretch. Ostensibly that phrase meant that he was going to help the working people. Yet that did not really happen. He did all he could in four years to press a unilateral approach and undermine decades of alliances and relationships. I firmly believe, though obviously cannot prove it, that Putin really wanted to invade Ukraine during a second Trump term since under Trump, the USA would do very little in response and certainly would not do what the Biden administration has done to provide support as well as bolster the NATO/EU alliance!

We do have the resources to keep assisting Ukraine. All it takes is political will.

It is not our place to dictate to Ukraine what peace they want. The Ukrainians will decide that. I personally know that numerous Ukrainians who had been working in the Czech Republic quit their jobs and went back home to fight the Russian invasion. When people claim those who advocate continued support for Ukraine "have shown little regard for life and property" who is being snippy now? I know of NO person who continues to advocate support for Ukraine that do not also lament the loss of life. But that loss is on Putin.

As to the Latin American nations refusal to assist Ukraine, that is mostly out of pure self-interest with little to do with the merits of assisting or not. Your own link bears this out.
