I had a recent work trip with two co-workers, one an engineer and the other a buyer. I am a quality engineer. Both of them are conservative Christians whereas I am an atheist.

During the drive, the engineer colleague said,, during conversation, that he like things he could validate and prove. The buyer sitting in the back seat said "so you don't believe in macro-evolution?"

I interjected evolution was a proven fact and he pushed back. I admit I started to get a bit angry so we tabled the discussion.

Later I found out that the buyer was homeschooled, so his view on the actual science of evolution is clearly driven by a probable fundamentalist view of evolution by way of his religious upbringing and home schooling which clearly lacked actual science of biology.

And per your article, even though he is now in his late 20s or early 30s, he also has some definite quirks with regards to personal interactions.
