The evidence is that Putin expected a quick win especially since he's been fomenting trouble in eastern Ukraine since 2014. The actions he took there were already in his playbook from his invasion to help separatists (whom he financed) in Georgia!

Too many people, when we urge continued support for Ukraine, respond with "look what the USA did in Iraq."

Two things can be true- that we were wrong to invade Iraq and Putin is wrong to invade Ukraine.

When I get those Putin apologists commenting my response to them is "Would YOU want to live under Putin's control? No? Then why condemn Ukrainians to that tyrant?"
