I don’t see secession as an issue. Bigger issue is a move to politically entrench minority rule by Republicans. While they dominate as a majority in some states, overall they tend to be in a minority as witnessed by presidential election results of the popular vote, for example. In my home state of Michigan, aggregate votes for Democratic congressional candidates exceeds the total for Republicans but due to gerrymandering our House delegation had, in 2016, 9 Republicans and 5 Democrats. In 2018, Democrats flipped two of the seats in purple districts to level the representation to 7 each
Republicans are trying to hold onto power as they erode our civic norms. That is how our nation is going, not a geographic secession.
