I am currently reading "America First: Roosevelt vs. Lindbergh in the Shadow of War"by historian H.W. Brands. He is one of my favorite history writers. I now have seven of his books. The book is very detailed in just what you describe about so many people trying to avoid getting the US involved as well as the arguments about sending money abroad when we have a depression in the USA. The same rhetoric we hear currently from MAGA.
