I agree with much of what you said- Biden and others made some serious errors back in the day. Some of it he is trying to reverse.

I graduated in 1983 and it took me ten years to pay off my loans and tuition was not nearly as expensive as it is now. Along the way I got a vehicle repossessed and had to live in my car for two months for lack of ability to pay for an apartment so I really sympathize with young people today with this crushing debt load.

Even if they don’t discharge debt there are other actions to mitigate the problem such as rolling back interest rates on the loans to zero and applying all that interest already paid onto the loan principle. Either way, mitigation of some of the loans or fully eliminating them would be a huge economic stimulus for the economy as a whole.

Some are advocating free college which may not get wide support but I have been advocating since 2016 (when I ran for college) that we at least need to stop thinking of free public education as K-12 and instead view it as “pre-K through 14,” i.e the first two years of college (or trade school or other education) should be part of our public school education system. At the very least then a bachelor’s degree would only be two years of tuition.

edit: typo said "fee college" but I meant "free" college
