Here's another difference as Dylan Combellick points out:

But Ukraine’s ultimate weapon isn’t in tanks, trucks, or tactics. It’s being Ukraine. It’s being civilized, liberal, humane.

Russia is ordering the evacuation of towns and villages near the front in Russia, but many residents are refusing to leave their homes. The prospect of falling under Ukrainian control doesn’t frighten them. Reports from social media by local residents after the Ukrainian occupation talk about how there are lots of tanks and soldiers, but what is missing is the most important part — no looting, no rape, and no massacres of civilians.

This Russian man posted a report of his interaction with Ukrainian troops on social media. (posting link to Twitter re-post, so it’s more accessible to those not using Telegram)

“The situation is more or less normal in the center of Sudzha. The law enforcement organ is fucked. The Administration Center has the Ukrop — Ukrainian (he corrects himself) flag over it. There is a lot of military equipment. I wanted to photograph it, but they called out to me and said that it was forbidden to take photos. They checked my documents. They didn’t hit me or anything. I asked him, “What should we do now?” He replied, “Learn the Ukrainian hymn and prepare for a referendum.” (chuckles). Personally, I don’t care what flag I live under; the important thing is to live peacefully. Maybe if ours can’t protect us, maybe the Ukrainians can.”
