Good ardicle Mike: I think what you are pointing to, and to which I have been arguing for years to both gun-nuttters AND gun-regulators is we need to IDENTIFY what we want to correct and identify the means to do so
I say all this a a GUN OWNER and an engineer.
Regulations should be targeted toward a specific issue being addressed. WE need to push back on the gun-nutters argument that when a reasonable 'control' is proposed the gun nutters say "but that solution to problem A won't fix Problem B" Of course it won't - that is no reason to NOT implement it.
And we need to push the left to start doing a better job of root cause and effect analysis so they don't implement dumb ideas like the one you point out in the article
