Cable broadcast was fairly quick and reliable but if you get away from that you have the internet reliability issue-the streaming aspect is highly reliant on reliable high speed internet access. We have "high speed" but in urban areas with lots of users on the local area network (LAN) there are lots of slow access to the streaming programs- a lag getting logged in, lag getting the show to open. And don't EVEN try to rewind or fast forward!

It is also frustrating to have to log in all the time using the clicker to move letter by letter UGH!

My high speed internet + cable TV bill is about $300/month. I explored just going with internet from Xfinity and adding Hulu- it would drop my costs by 50% ( $70 for internet and about $80 for Hulu) except the Hulu package that also access local TV stations requires that the Hulu app be on your "smart tv" - our TV is not that smart as it is several years old- so I would need to have a tv antenna for the several local channels.

The good news is that a fiber obtic company is running lines in our area and once ready to hook up we may make the change to Hulu anyway then and just use the tv antenna for local until our current tv dies and we have to buy a new one. Nothing would make me happier than cancelling Xfinity as a provider who is always raising prices. I pay a "sports" fee though I watch NO sports channels at all. The only sport channel I watches was NBC-Sports in July for the Tour de France until NBC moved the broadcast largely to streaming service Peacock (which I had to pay for). So why do I have to pay for sports channels?
