Boudica was briefly successful. Her revolt burned Londoninium and force the evacuation of Romans from there and another town. Her army defeated the 9th legion which during which more than 70,000 romans and allies were killed.

Her army lost the next major battle against the romans led by Suetonius who planted his army on a rise forcing the Britons to fight uphill. He also arranged his forces in a sort of alternating V line in which Britons could be attacked from two sides
