Bluntly put- open office concept SUCKS!

Open office concept is bad enough when dealing with phone conversations. With the proliferation of online meetings via skype or teams, this furniture arrangement is terrible.

Finally, people spend so much time at work (1/3 of their week ) that stripping away the ability to customize their work space is dehumanizing.

Claiming open office reduces hierarchical boundaries is false. Management is never in the open office.

They have offices with windows from which they can watch the galley slaves row.

Centralized supervision? Really? That is a non-argument. Staff can still be centralized in an office with cubicles.

Claiming open office facilitates collaboration is false. I have worked in companies in which everyone had cubicles and the collaboration was far higher there than in the ones with open office concepts. I worked at a company which had open offices. It did NOT facilitate collaboration. Creating a collaborative work place the role of a company CULTURE- not furniture.

The primary benefit- to the company- is cost.

There are literally NO advantages to the staff subjected to open office furniture. The only advantages lay with the company and management.
