Being condescending doesn't work well if you want civil discussions- so there's that. But here's some more history for you to learn as well. You're welcome.
On August 10, 1945, Japan offered to surrender to the Allies, the only condition being that the emperor be allowed to remain the nominal head of state. Planning for the use of additional nuclear weapons continued even as these deliberations were ongoing. [1]
Literally proves my point. We ended up keeping the emperor in place- the only condition they put forward to surrender.
According to an account by Walter Brown, assistant to then-US secretary of state James Byrnes, Truman agreed at a meeting three days before the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima that Japan was “looking for peace”. Truman was told by his army generals, Douglas Macarthur and Dwight Eisenhower, and his naval chief of staff, William Leahy, that there was no military need to use the bomb.
As to the coup, "there was an attempted coup in Tokyo to halt the emperor's intended recorded broadcast to the Japanese nation on August 15 announcing the surrender. It was extremely melodramatic but had little real chance of success and was quelled"[2]
