Another consideration- Russia still occupies some parts of Georgia from their meddling in 2008 (a precursor to the Russian meddling in the Donetsk and Luhansk provinces in Ukraiine). If Armenia remains a Russian satellite, Russia effectively surrounds Georgia. If Armenia goes to the west, Russia then only has a front on the north of Georgia.
