Amanda: I don’t eat any dead animals. I personally do eat eggs, butter and cheese. I don’t consume milk or ice cream

The essence of the article is that if you care about animal welfare you MUST become a vegan otherwise one is hypocritical. As I pointed out, people choose to be vegetarians or vegans for various reasons, singularly or in combination, from health reasons, dietary concerns, environmental as well as animal rights. Your question is seems to accept his position while conflating it with “food safety.”

It is already generally safe to eat meat, eggs and dairy. Safe food consumption isn’t the same as animal based foods being produced in humane manner. Disregarding meat which can only be produced by killing an animal, if we focus on eggs and dairy, there are numerous sources of humanely produced products.
