Allocating the EC electoral votes by Congressional district would encourage even MORE gerrymandering.

For example, after the 2020 Trump loss numerous GOP speakers advocated changing the EC allocations based on congressional districts- although they did so in states like Michigan where I live which at the time had 9 Republicans in the US House and 6 Democrats due to gerrymandering. I know because I ran the numbers.

If you added up all the votes for Democratic candidates for US House and then did so for GOP candidates- the final tally was approximately 52-48 for Democrats. Dems should have had MORE US House representatives than the GOP but did not.

Anyway- awarding by district does not more than awarding proportionally, potentially preventing a 270+ electoral win by either candidate and giving the election to the Republican candidate based on the 1 vote per state delegation rule in the constitution which favors Republicans
