Actually there are laws in numerous states regarding Electors. Michigan law mandates all 16 EC votes go to the winner in Michigan.

Several states have “faithless electors" laws with varying degrees of remedy for electors who do not vote for the correct winning presidential candidate . Penalties range from simu being replaced by another electors to monetary fines.

No, not overly robust, to be sure.
